Parkland student survivor Cameron Kasky appeared on CNN this morning to respond to President Trump‘s big speech to the NRA.
The speech touched on a lot of topics––including Russia and John Kerry‘s bicycle injury––but it was a very pro-NRA speech. It was somewhat of a shift from comments the President made in that bipartisan meeting with lawmakers weeks ago talking about things like taking guns away from people and dealing with due process later.
In response to this, Kasky said today, “He’s a professional liar who will say anything to appease whatever crowd he’s at. If he’s in front of families, he might say something in support of common sense gun reform, but then when he’s at the NRA he’ll say something to get a big cheer.”
He described the NRA convention as “like Comic-Con,” where mostly the die-hards show up and don’t necessarily hold Trump accountable.
The President also mockingly said we may have to “outlaw all vans and all trucks” to make a point about gun control, to which Kasky said, “That’s an argument that I very often see from 12-year-olds in my comments section.”
