Jeremy Floyd rescue note, A 28-year-old Florida woman, beaten and held captive by her boyfriend, managed to convince him to take their dog to a Veterinary hospital, where she planned her escape.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Carolyn Reichle’s boyfriend, 39-year-old Jeremy Floyd, abused and threatened her with a gun Wednesday. Deputies said Floyd prevented Reichle from leaving their home for two days.
After recovering from her injuries at home, authorities said Reichle persuaded Floyd, who insisted on accompanying her with a loaded handgun, to bring their dog to DeLand Animal Hospital Friday.
When Reichle arrived at the animal hospital, investigators said she managed to slip a worker a handwritten note that said, “Call the cops. My boyfriend is threatening me. He has a gun. Please don’t let him know.”
The staff member called law enforcement after receiving the note. Deputies responded and arrested Floyd, a convicted felon, after they said Reichle, who was visibly injured, told them about the assault.
Deputies took Reichle to Florida Hospital DeLand, where she was treated for her injuries, which included a head injury, a black eye and bruised arms.
Floyd is charged with domestic violence, aggravated assault with a firearm, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and simple battery. He remains in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bail allowed.
