Woman begs car thief to return her dog.

A Boston woman on Monday was reunited with her dog, which was in the back of her SUV when it was stolen from outside a store.

Rosa Nese said she was inside an East Boston convenience store for a few minutes Sunday morning when a thief took off with her white Hyundai Santa Fe with her 8-year-old yellow Labrador retriever, Chief, inside it.

Nese said she had just visited her mother’s grave when she stopped at the store. She left the SUV running, with the windows cracked and air conditioning on because Chief was in the back. When she came out minutes later, both were gone.

Surveillance video shows a man with a backpack getting inside the SUV and driving away with Chief.

But Chief was later found safe inside the SUV at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

No arrests have been made.
