U.S. Military Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Smiley was shot in a Taliban assault that killed two Afghan leaders in Kandahar province final week, the Pentagon confirmed on Sunday.
The Washington Submit reported that Smiley was recovering after struggling at the very least one gunshot wound whereas he was contained in the Kandahar governor’s compound. U.S. army spokesman Cmdr. Grant W. Neeley supplied no different particulars.
The Taliban assassinated two prime provincial officers Thursday in an assault on a safety convention attended by the highest U.S. army commander within the nation, Gen. Scott Miller. He escaped damage.
Smiley was assigned in the summertime to guide a Kandahar-based command with a mission to coach and advise Afghan safety forces and assist with counterterrorism operations in southern Afghanistan.
